Metro Wire & Cable Corp. Quarterly Update (Q4)

Quarterly Company and Industry Update

As we near the end of the 2023 calendar year, we wish to update you on industry trends and company news. Metro Wire & Cable Corp. extends its gratitude to employees, customers, vendors, and the communities who enable us to provide comprehensive support – from material selection to procurement and delivery.

National Landscape

As noted in our previous quarterly update, Metro Wire & Cable – Quarterly Update 08/2023, MWC continues to see large demands in the renewable energy space. In addition to solar, battery energy storage systems and wind developments across the United States, we are also seeing new and emerging technologies being vetted regionally.  Some such projects to help maintain smooth grid operations include virtual power plants, pumped storage hydropower, agrivotaics (to allow for solar collection and agricultural production on the same property), and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). To meet these demands, our team has been on the forefront and offering a design assist approach and many other services (MWC Value Added Services) to ensure cost-effective, on-time project completion.

Additionally, our industrial electrical contractors and manufacturing clients are continuing to invest in plant automation and innovative material handling solutions. Reaching a rate of nearly $190 billion this year in new industrial construction in the United States, this rate of growth is nearly double from a year ago and the highest since collecting data in 1990. Simplicity, efficiency, and ease of use are all key factors for this increased mechanization. ‘Industrial Revolution 4.0’ is here, and we are ready to assist through our industrial product offerings: MWC Industrial Products.

Innovation & Investment

The rate of technological advancement and progress has reached unprecedented levels within our industry and the industries our clients operate in. We are assisting clients every day in various forms, from more efficient energy storage system solutions, renewable energy delivery methods, innovative micro and macro power distribution systems, and beyond. The future of electrical distribution is changing, and we are growing and meeting the needs of our clients and marketplace.

To keep pace and exceed the demands we are experiencing as noted above, MWC has several exciting updates to share to help bolster our operations. Recently we completed office renovations in our Midwest Sales & Distribution Facility in Iowa City, Iowa to allow for the staff expansion we have been experiencing and further anticipate. The aesthetic and ergonomic improvements will allow employees to feel ‘at home’ while assisting clients in the greater Midwest and Western regions of the United States. Our warehouse expansion project is nearly complete in Iowa City as well.  This larger footprint will allow for more strategic sourcing and project staging. Additionally, MWC is transitioning in early 2024 to a new enterprise software, inventory management and customer relationship management (CRM) platform, to allow greater ease while conducting business to business transactions, and to meet our client’s requests for greater digitalization. All of these enrichments can benefit you and make your job easier!

#MetroCares Community Investment

As we near the end of the year, we take a pause to give thanks to our communities through our annual #MetroCares efforts. Each of our three main sales/distribution facilities partner with local/national charities to provide a variety of services and goods for those in need. This year our three locations chose to support:

  • Michigan – Sterling Heights Holiday Assistance Program and earlier this month we showed our support to The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW).
  • Georgia – St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
  • Iowa – Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry/Coralville Community Food Pantry.

On behalf of all of us at Metro Wire & Cable, thank you for your trust and confidence in 2023. As always, never hesitate to reach out to your Metro Wire & Cable point-of-contact if we can be of assistance to you and your colleagues. We deeply appreciate your continued support, trust, and confidence. On behalf of everyone at Metro Wire & Cable, THANK YOU!
